Real data. Not estimates.

Picking your next city shouldn't be guesswork.

You open a dozen tabs. A rent forum from 2019. A blog post about somewhere the writer visited for a week. A cost calculator that assumes you're single and don't have kids. A visa page in a language you don't read.

None of it tells you the one thing you need: could you actually live there?

NomadCheck answers that in about thirty seconds.

Explore

2,500+ cities, opened up.

Filter by what you can spend. Sort by what you care about. Every city comes with a full breakdown — rent, groceries, transport, eating out, utilities, everything — not a single vague “index” number.

  • Search or browse by region
  • Full category-by-category cost breakdown
  • Data cached and refreshed, so it loads instantly
  • Works in 100+ currencies

Personalised

Priced for your life, not a stranger’s.

Most cost-of-living data assumes one person in a one-bedroom. You might be two adults and a toddler, or renting a room, or buying. Tell NomadCheck once and every price you see across every city adjusts to match.

  • Adults and children in your household
  • Your rent situation and the size of place you need
  • Applies automatically to every city, every category
  • Change it any time and watch every number update

The part everyone else skips

Affording it is half the answer. The other half is whether you're allowed to stay.

NomadCheck carries visa and long-term stay information alongside the costs — for 200+ passports. Pick yours once, and every city tells you where you stand: how long you can stay, what you'd need for longer, and whether a nomad or long-stay route exists.

  • How long you get

Visa-free days, entry conditions, and what happens when the clock runs out.

  • Staying longer

Long-stay and nomad-visa routes where they exist, and what they ask of you.

  • Your passport, specifically

Set it once from 200+ options. Every city answers for you, not for a generic traveller.

Because a city you can afford but can't stay in isn't an option.

Visa information is provided for guidance and changes frequently. Always confirm with the relevant embassy or immigration authority before you travel.

Compare

Put two cities side by side and let the difference speak.

Not a headline number - a real line-by-line comparison. Rent against rent, groceries against groceries, visa terms against visa terms. See exactly where the gap is, and whether it’s the gap that matters to you.

Illustrative example.
Category City A City B Difference, City B against City A
Rent €1,240 €840 −32%
Groceries €380 €300 −21%
Transport €60 €78 +30%
Eating out €320 €240 −25%
Utilities €110 €145 +32%

Shortlist

Build the list you’ll actually move from.

Somewhere between “I’d love to go there one day” and booking a flight, there’s a list. Save the cities that survive your filters, keep them in one place, and come back as the numbers move. When a city on your list gets cheaper, you’ll be looking at the right screen.

  • 🇵🇹 Lisbon €1,980
  • 🇪🇸 Valencia €1,740
  • 🇩🇪 Berlin €2,560

Budget

Start from what you earn. Work backwards to where you can live.

The built-in budget calculator flips the question. Instead of asking what a city costs, tell NomadCheck what you have to spend — and see which of your saved cities fit comfortably, which are tight, and which aren’t happening this year.

€2,800

  • Lisbon €1,980 Comfortable
  • Valencia €1,740 Comfortable
  • Mexico City €1,460 Comfortable
  • Tbilisi €1,120 Comfortable
  • Berlin €2,560 Tight
  • Zürich €4,320 Out of reach

Questions worth asking.

Where does the cost data come from?

Cost data is sourced from Numbeo, one of the largest crowd-sourced cost-of-living datasets in the world, and cached on our own servers so the app stays fast. We refresh it regularly.

How accurate is it?

It’s the best available picture, not a quote. Treat every figure as a well-informed estimate — good enough to compare cities and plan a budget, not a guarantee of what you’ll pay on a specific lease.

Is the visa information official?

No. It’s a guide to help you shortlist. Rules change often and depend on your exact circumstances, so always confirm with the relevant embassy or immigration authority before you book anything.

Do I need an account?

You can start exploring straight away. An account keeps your saved cities, household setup, and preferences in sync across devices.

Which currencies can I use?

Over 100. Pick yours once and every price in the app converts automatically.

Which passports are supported?

Over 200. Set yours once and visa and long-stay information is shown from your perspective everywhere.

Can I use it if I’m not a digital nomad?

Yes. It’s built for people who move — that includes relocating for work, retiring abroad, studying, or just wondering what life would cost somewhere else.

Is my data private?

Your household setup and saved cities are yours. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
